I'm an artist and designer.
I work with local artisans and trust to come up with new design & crafts.. my little effort to preserve this traditional art form with some new and interesting stuff.
History -
History says that back in few centuries, King Tipu Sultan had been to Persia and fell in love with their wooden toys. Back home he missed them so much that he invited Persian artisans to train local craftsmen in the art of lacquer wood toys. This form of handicraft exist since more than two centuries and it is found in the place called Channapatna also known as “Town of Toysâ€.
How it works -
Our workshops still rely on two-hundred-year old traditional methods - the wood turned (spinned) on lathe and colored with organic sources such as yellow from turmeric, indigo for blue, red from vermillion and brown from Katha with simple symmetrical forms. Each piece is processed with hands
