Hosiar Singh
INTRODUCTION

Over 45 years ago, at the age of 16, Hoshiar Singh embarked on the journey of a billboard painter. It was not very far away in time that he became famous for his brush strokes and a specialist in painting Hema Malini.
He established Singh Art Studio in 1984. The Studio specializes in varied media of visual expressions- from realistic paintings for hoardings and billboards to portraits to evocative murals to elaborate exhibitions. Though Shri Hoshiar Singh hasn't received any formal education in art or painting, his lines and textures of facial features and background scenes allow for great mood settings.
A long and prolific collaboration with the best exhibition designers in the country has only been more fructifying. Whether it was the painting for the 'Bhoot Bangla' at Appu Ghar (1978-80), mural for NTPC (1982) or Defence Expo (2006), Independence Day Tableaux for the Indian Railways (1989), or the Auto Expo (Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher, Ashok Leyland), or the backdrop painting for Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (2007-8), Shri Hoshiar Singh has painted the town not just red, but blue and pink and violet and all the shades and colours in between.
Well, the icing on the cake has been the painting on the Times of India Building (New Delhi-2001) & the mural depicting the culture and glory of Punjab in the Khalsa Heritage museum (Anandpur Sahib, Punjab).
