INTRODUCTION
Fashion cannot be simply followed or stated, it is a way of life, a way of carrying around oneself. It is our very own attitude and style, therefore to follow someone else or a trend is fake like putting on someone else’s face on your own name.
I.AM.ME is for the women who is confident of herself and needs no trends to follow. She knows her roots very well and wants to play with that to create her own unique global and contemporary outlook.
I.AM.ME women are proud, bold and blunt.
I.AM.ME is to dress the women not when she is already preparing hard to dress up, but it is for those times when she spends little or no time to dress, like for her daily work. I would not classify that as casual as no smart women would want to be casual at work or to be treated as causal at work. The label style is very blunt and its designs are put forward with straight silhouettes’ and cuts emphasizing on no non-sense approach of today’s all-rounder working women.
I.AM.ME has a motive to promote Indian craftsmanship with a global outlook and relevant styles. Today’s times demand global fashion and I.AM.ME doesn’t approve of categories like traditional or western dressing styles. Globalization is the new inevitable demand in fashion and I.AM.ME therefore, stands for it.
ABOUT SHOP OWNER
Being labelled a designer can restrict someone, forcing them to play a defined role.
But it liberated Akanksha Gupta.
She started out as an architect after graduating from Delhi and with an M.Sc in Emergent Technologies Design from AA School of Architecture in London, and designed schools, colleges, master plans, medical facitlites, interiors, residences and gate ways.
The love for forms, function and symmetry couples with the desire to see them adapt to life gave birth to Autopoietic Design Cell, a unified design studio that doesn't limit its function to a particular genre, or use, but seeps into several domains, borrowing from each other to make themselves better.
Riding on the upswing of this ever-adapting, ever-changing wave is I.AM.ME - a brand of designerwear for women that aims to capture the euphoria and the exuberance of their everyday life. It celebrates not occasions, but a woman's life as she lives it each day.
The straight silhouettes and the no-nonsense forms make the designs stand out without shouting out, and are meant for the workplace, the after-office hour meet-ups and the easy weekends. Because I.AM.ME is not made for those few mass celebrations that everybody adheres to. Rather, it is made to turn every day into a personal, individual celebration of your identity
