INTRODUCTION
Kalavilasa is committed to use natural fibers such as wool and silk in producing the carpets. We work with Bikaneri and New Zealand wools, and Indian mulberry silk. Wool is a natural, sustainable and bio-degradable fiber. It is exceptionally beautiful thanks to its bright colour and is known for its quality and flexibility. It is hypoallergenic, easy to care for, ages well and retains its colour. It also minimises condensation and noise levels, while creating a relaxing and comfortable environment. Wool is naturally fire resistant and will not melt when burned. While wool will catch fire, it does not support a flame. Wool dyes easily to create a limitless range of colors. By taking support of testing houses in India, China or UK, Kalavilasa provides material and sample analysis service to satisfy safety regulations on fire resistance and strength.

Craft is an economic resource available with a large number of people living in rural areas, particularly those who are not engaged in agriculture. It can be used to improve their socio-economic condition, and thus prevent their migration to urban areas, often accompanied with terrible social consequences. Kalavilasa is a rug design company based in Bangalore, functioning as a social enterprise.Kalavilasa is committed to create a trusted brand of rugs, by focusing on innovation and creativity. The rugs which we produce are handmade by craftpersons, working only with natural fibres and using a variety of techniques such as hand-tufting and dhurrie-weaving. We work in close collaboration with the master weavers who represent the second or third generation of a glorious rug-weaving tradition in the states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in northern India. Kalavilasa works with a strong emphasis on fair trade and labour, sustainable development, and contemporizing tradition .
