INTRODUCTION

A brand is often the reflection of its founder. Aarushi Kilawat knew it at an early age that her inclination towards art is not a passing phase. While achieving her academic accomplishments, Aarushi began her career by investing herself actively in an NGO in Jaipur that worked towards HIV+ and cancer patients and stayed on the board until 2016. It led to the start of two ambitious design projects that were for the good of the society, the first project in 2012 was creating Braille tags for the visually challenged; the aim was to make their lives a little easier and a little better than it was. The project wasn’t a mere experiment as she continued to incorporate those tags in her label for the special edition in her line. Aarushi then created a graduation project called ‘Survival – a post apocalyptic scenario’ where she researched and created fabrics out of utter waste and reclaim them for functional purposes. The brand Loom Art derived its name from the designer’s love for handloom and her admiration towards art and generating it on fabric via some exclusive techniques. The label focuses on reviving old authentic embroidery techniques and generating employment for the locals. The loom art was incepted in June 2017 but the idea of it has been brewing for a while.
