Indian Yards was founded by Sunita Suhas, a self taught Quilter. Having learnt the skill and realising that this is a dying art, Indian Yards is an attempt to revive this skill at a grass root level. The first employee of Indian Yards was a domestic helper who was then trained to be a quilter. Indian Yards is set up in the pristine Nilgiris biosphere also known as the Blue Mountains in the southern part of India, employing only women from the weaker section of the society and training them to be quilters. Each of these quilts are handcrafted using 100% natural cotton which includes the filing/wadding inside the quilt making these quilts breathe life into one’s sleep. We source 100% cotton fabric from various regions of India and include hand block printed fabric popular for their Indian ethic appeal. We also craft modern designs using solid colour shades. While our market, at the moment, is predominately India; we have been sending out quilts to customers across the US and EU as well.
